Synchronization Failed - There was a error while Synchronizing

If Tradepoint reports an error while Synchronizing, the following steps should be taken:

  • Try to Synchronize again.
Often the Synchronization error will be caused by one of two things: a loss of connectivity with the synchronization server, or changes to the data while a Synchronization process was in progress. To force the program to Synchronize now, go to File - Synchronize.
  • Check your internet/network connection.
Ensure that your connection to the internet/network is working correctly.
  • Ensure that the Synchronization Server path is correct.
Go to Setup/Configure Options under the top left menu. Click the System Management icon and then click the Synchronization option on the left side.  Ensure that a valid path has been entered in the "Synchronization Server Address" field. You can check the path by pasting it in your web browser. You should be taken to a page that has the heading "Synchronize" at the top of the page. If you do not get a valid webpage, contact your system administrator and request the correct path.
  • Check your firewall settings.
While all of the Tradepoint Web Services use the same port as your web browser (port 80) some firewalls may be configured to block specific applications. Check your firewall configuration and ensure the Tradepoint is permitted to connect through your firewall. Refer to your firewall's documentation for the specific details on how to do this.
  • Contact your system administrator and have them check the Synchronization Server connection.
The Synchronization service is installed on your company's server. Have your system administrator check the server to make sure that it is connected to the internet/network properly.
  • Try to Synchronize at a later time.
As mentioned in #1, most Synchronization errors occur because of connection problems with the server, or changes being made while a Synchronization was in progress. Both of these issues can be caused by other users working on the server and synchronizing at the same time. Try running a Synchronization an hour after you got the error.

If you have checked all of the items above and are still unable to synchronize successfully, please contact technical support with the error message that you are receiving.
