Managing your Gmail IMAP account
Apr/9/2012
Google's Gmail IMAP account default settings automatically "expunge" and "archive" deleted messages. However, changing the settings to match Tradepoint Enterprise mail management behavior (move deleted messages to Deleted Items, permanently delete from Deleted Items) is quick and easy to do. Here's how:
A. In your Web Browser, log on to your Google Gmail account;
B. Click the "Gears" icon, then the "Settings" link, then the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab;
C. Scroll down to the "IMAP Access" section.
1. In the "When I mark a message in IMAP as deleted:" group:
Change the radio button from "Auto-Expunge on" to "Auto-Expunge off".
(With this change made, changes to the next group will become available.)
2. In the "When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder:" group:
Change the radio button from "Archive the message" to "Move the message to the Trash".
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Save Changes" and the close your browser.
Done.
